150 KNOTS
for BAU A3D n.11 - 2014

+ 15 DRINKNOTS extra BAU
+ 12 digital prints

by Giacomo Verde

"150 Knots" is a multi-dimension art project.
Each "object" in the project occupies its own space-present time but is also able to connect to the Internet and/or generate a digital message.

During a home performance Giacomo Verde has tied up into knots 150 drinking straws, repeating each time the concept "remember: Art is useless".

Tying something into a knot is one of the possible ways people use "not to forget". When a drinking straw is tied into a knot it is made unusable (useless like Art). But it also becomes Art, exactly because it cannot be used for its intended purpose, although it can still be used as a reminder.

Two QRcodes have been tied to each drinking straw. One QRcode generates the words "remember: Art is useless".  And the other QRcode links to a web page, where you can watch the video of the performance and hear the explanation of the project.

150 drinking straws with QRcode have been inserted in the 150 boxes, art containers, BAU A3D no.11. ( video http://youtu.be/9O-TW-PwVxc )

15 more drinking straws with QRcode have been assembled and inserted in as many plastic cups for any exhibitions and collectors and entitled "15 DrinKnots".

Furthermore, the photos taken of the 150 drinking straws have been used as the basis to make 12 digital prints entitled "Art Is Useless".

The "15 DrinKnots" and 3 prints in the "Art Is Useless" series were exhibited for the first time at SottoVetro in Casciana Terme from 12 April to 5 May 2014.

Then in the Contemporary Art Gallery Studio Gennai of Pisa, from June 7 to August 2, 2014, along with the video that generated the project.

Full installation at the Gallery of Contemporary Art Studio Gennai of Pisa.
